Rain, the season most people relate with love, romance, smiles and longing. Naseen and Aarit were no less. Like everyone else, she wanted him to be with her and he always wanted to hold her close. Each rain had its special feel to them; the rain was their expression of what they feel for each other. Only the single thought of rain brought smile to them. Their memories, their thoughts for each other, the times when she looked at him secretly thinking he would not know and the times he adored her smile her innocence thinking she doesn’t know, but both of them knew.
Naseen, as her name suggests was a cool breeze with life and energy, her laughter made people smile, her beauty was flawless just as an angel with big almond shaped brown eye. Naseen was a girl who loved love but knew where the reality hit. With Aarit around her she was a child with uncontrollable laughter and the sparkle in the eye. Aarit was the perfect guy for any girl, he was handsome with a cute rabbit smile that made many girls go weak on their knees but the one girl who made him forget everything was Naseen. Aarit lived a materialistic life he was practical strong and very determined. And as they say opposites attract however here they fell in love.
That day it was raining again, but something was not the same the rain seemed dry that day. He was driving and there she sat beside him just like she always was...right beside him. Looking at the rain drops on the window glass she was lost, wo bheege pal from manorama six feet under played in the background giving words to their thoughts. He looked at her when he stopped at a red light he said to himself “what an angel she is, I know what she is thinking about I know what is bothering her, I can’t live without that smile”, others honked, the signal was green. The car stopped, they were there CafĂ© Coffee Day, the place where they always met and talked and perhaps the place they found love.
He turned off the ignition and was looking at her; Naseen still lost in thoughts did notice they were there. His hands touched hers and she hit reality again rather, to put it in her words, she always felt alive when he touched her so she was alive again. She never wanted to reach here today. She knew it was for no good. She wished inside for it to be a dream and she will soon wake up. But as she stepped out of the car and rain drops touched her cheeks she knew it was real. They went inside together, she was behind him looking at him from the side above his shoulder “this is the only guy I can ever love, I know what his eyes say I know what is going on in his mind I know he loves me” she thought.
They sat at the same place, it was the same music, the same person took their order, the same order as ever hers extra sweet his extra strong. But still something didn’t feel right to her, she was uneasy and he sensed it. Although she always felt and he always sensed but that is how they complimented each other. Words had lost their power; they were nothing more than noise for them. He stood up took her hand and asked her to get up so that they can leave, she was stunned and looked at him with the innocence that killed him; she had no clue why he was doing this.
He took her hand and she kept following and then she finally spoke “Aarit, do you really want to do this? Nobody is forcing you don’t be under any pressure and you can take your time.” He turned and looked at her with look in the eyes that said it all. He then stopped and put his hand on her shoulder and said “Naseen, you know that I love you then how does it matter if the time now is right or not; we anyways have to decide about it so why not now. I know how important it is for you and for that one smile I can do this.”
